ITS Academy of Beauty Cosmetology Student Wins Second Place
with Ice Cream Inspired Hair Design
Amanda May, a cosmetology student from ITS Academy of Beauty, 1010 W. University in Denton, captured 2nd place in the Fantasy Hair competition at the recent Hair Forum Competition in Fort Worth, Texas.
MESA, AZ, February 03, 2011 /Beauty PR News/ -- Amanda May, a cosmetology student from ITS Academy of Beauty, 1010 W. University in Denton, captured 2nd place in the Fantasy Hair competition at the recent Hair Forum Competition in Fort Worth, Texas.
The contestants in the fantasy category were encouraged to pull out the stops on their themed entry to create a hair and makeup idea on a mannequin that would wow the judges, spectators and fellow students. Each entry was judged based on creativity, originality, innovation, color and theme.
May's entry was an eye-catching, ice cream-inspired hair design with swirls of chocolate, strawberry and vanilla-colored hair, with a piece of waffle cone on the side of the head to denote an ice cream cone. Poised on the top of the head was a silver spoon on pin-curled locks shaped like scoops of ice cream.
"Amanda is known for her creativity," said Melissa McGee, director of the Denton cosmetology school. "She is soft-spoken, sweet, but very industrious. She manages to go to school at night, work during the day, and always have an imaginative approach to hair design. We are very proud of her."
ITS Academy of Beauty is a recently-remodeled cosmetology school that provides students with a distinguished environment that mirrors many of the upscale salons that will employ ITS Academy of Beauty students after they graduate and earn their cosmetology license.
The Denton campus has two resident instructors, McGee and Admission Director Sheila Moore, who teach advanced education classes on the weekends.
